Personal branding can be tricky. However, this is something you cannot ignore if you want to prosper and move ahead.

With proper branding, you’re reiterating your brand voice, which is essential for maintaining credibility in the online world.

Also, the result of creating a personal brand is more sales and better penetration in the market.

But now, the main question is how to grow your personal brand on social media.

Well, I’m not sure about others, but the strategy that I’m using to build a personal brand is helping me maintain a good presence along with the intended benefits.

As many of you might have seen my accounts on different social media platforms, it will be easier to relate with me when understanding the concepts. So, I’ll be using the examples of my social media accounts. Let’s start:

Create accounts across all social media platforms

First things first, you’ll have to create accounts across all social media forums, even if you think your audience doesn’t exist on the particular forums.

One of the primary reasons for doing so is that you’ll leave nothing on the table by opting for different media channels. Besides, you can expect better reach to spread your message.

Furthermore, you’ll be in a better position to maintain your credibility. The more forums you are on, the chances will be you are more dedicated to what you’re doing. At least, this is how we perceive social media presence, isn’t it?

For your ease, let me name the essential social media platforms: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, and YouTube.

Post forum-relevant content

One of the other misconceptions we have is that we can use the same content across social media. Well, this is true to some extent, but not in the way of copy-pasting it.

You have to keep the format that each social media platform supports.

For example, you cannot go for long posts on Twitter, but writing long posts on Facebook and LinkedIn is possible and recommended to provide value to the user.

Similarly, some Instagram reels and YouTube shorts require a different video format. Also, there are long YouTube videos to provide value to the clients.

When using short-form videos or reels, you can expect to provide information in a lesser time. Also, reels can be more engaging as compared to long-format videos. It can also trigger your audience to explore your page further. Besides, you wouldn’t have to spend as long creating the videos as required otherwise.

So, you’ll ensure sure that you’re following the proper format. It will help you cover the market from a holistic point of view and let your audience explore your content in a format they consider the best.

Share content regularly

Posting now and then on social media indicates you’re not active on the forum. Your audience isn’t aware of who you are and what you are up to. Also, social media forums limit the reach of accounts that aren’t a regular poster.

All these issues can be managed if you manage a monthly posting calendar and schedule posts beforehand. So, you can maintain a regular posting streak.

The content you should share must be about the topic and the niche in which you’re establishing your authority. Also, you can share your opinion about the general events going on in society.

I’ll suggest you be yourself and share what you exactly think. Manipulating your views for online presence will harm you in the long run as your personality and brand will be considered fake.

Keep the brand tone consistent

Another important thing here is that you must keep the tone consistent across social media platforms. You cannot send a mix of messages and expect your audience to know what you want to say or who you actually are.

By mixed messages, I mean you cannot call a particular thing right on one forum while going against it on the other.

Initially, you might need a bit of trial and error when setting the tone of your brand. That is fine, and you can do a bit of testing to reach your right voice. But once it is established, you have a little room to tweak. If you do, you might get overnight fame for some time, but that would put off your original fan base.

Connect with Influencers

You don’t have to go through your personal social media brand-building journey all alone. You can get help from the influencers.

Finding the right influencers who align with your mindset can provide you with a dedicated audience that can surely help you grow and provide you with higher sales and returns depending on your business type.

Also, you can learn from the Influencers too. Find their social media posting pattern, method of maintaining the voice, and best practices. Understanding these tactics can help you grow significantly. In that case, you’ll just have to implement these strategies, and you’ll have a higher chance of engaging your audience.

Be generous with your time and knowledge

To grow your personal brand on social media, you must be generous with your time and knowledge. You’ll have to provide value to your audience. In most cases, it must be free of cost before you can expect the audience to invest money and get into your paid offerings as a brand.

Also, maintaining regular engagement is essential; otherwise, your audience might lose interest. I think this is where I should discuss content marketing too. When you provide the correct value to your audience, you won’t have to look for other strategies to generate content. Whatever you share in the live sessions, you can convert to video, media for posts, and written content. So, the problem of what to post will be significantly reduced.

Creating polls or asking questions can lead to higher engagement

When you aim to grow your personal brand on social media, you must keep the audience engaged. One of the best ways to do it is to create polls and questions. You can expect your audience to share their opinion better. Besides, if they disagree with your proposed options, they are more likely to comment and share their opinion.

These polls can be about professional knowledge or general questions. You can create a mix of both to ensure that everyone can participate.

Summing up

Building a personal brand can help you establish a strong reputation within your target market. However, you need to make an effort to ensure that your audience trusts you and gains value from the content you’re sharing.
